In this article, we will take a closer look at the Vauxhall Corsa 2023, explore its key features, and answer some frequently asked questions about this popular car.
Design and Exterior
The Vauxhall Corsa 2023 has been designed with a sleek and modern look that makes it stand out on the road. The exterior features a bold front grille, LED headlights, and sculpted lines that give the car a sporty appearance. The 2023 model is available in various colours, allowing drivers to choose a shade that suits their style. With its stylish and modern exterior design, the Vauxhall Corsa 2023 is sure to turn heads on the road.
Interior and Features
Many buyers will remember having a Vauxhall Corsa as their first car. However, this fifth-generation model is more classy than it has ever been before. The Vauxhall Corsa 2023 boasts a stylish and modern interior with features that make it comfortable and convenient.
All trims are equipped with a 7.0" touchscreen, which features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, except for the top-of-the-range Ultimate trim, which provides a larger 10.0" display. The entry-level Design trim in the petrol models comes with a 3.5" digital instrument panel, providing vital information such as your speed, fuel levels, and more. However, the GS or Ultimate trims are fitted with a 7.0" high-resolution instrument cluster which can show map directions in the driver's eyeline in conjunction with the Navi Pro multimedia system.
Vauxhall Corsa Trim levels
Design
The Design trim is the entry-level trim for the 2023 Vauxhall Corsa, and it's generously equipped with a leather steering wheel, LED headlights, alloy wheels, air-con, and electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors provided as standard.
GS
The GS is the sportiest version of the Corsa, and tinted windows, a black roof, LED rear lights and LED front fog lights are standard. Although these options were originally only provided on the petrol version, as of an update in Spring 2023, the Corsa Electric GS models will also receive LED front fog lights. All GS models also come with electronic climate control, alloy-effect sports pedals, rear parking sensors and a Sport driving mode.
Ultimate
The range-topping Ultimate trim provides more useful and convenient features, including a rear-view camera, sat nav, a Winter pack, ambient mood lighting, front parking sensors and a Winter Pack. This premium model also boasts heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, electrically folding door mirrors, keyless entry and Matrix LED headlights and provides more comfort with lumbar support and a massage function for the driver.
The Corsa Electric trims are almost identical to the traditional petrol models, except the higher-spec GS Line, Anniversary Edition, and Ultimate versions are available.
Practicality, space and storage
Thankfully, Vauxhall has discarded the three-door versions of the Corsa, and thanks to more modern styling techniques, the latest five-door variants look no less sporty and are a lot easier for accessing a child's car seat and for passengers getting in and out of the rear seats.
The latest Corsa has a spacious cabin that provides ample room for front and rear-seated passengers, and the seats are comfortable and supportive, making long journeys more enjoyable.
Petrol versions of the fifth-generation Corsa have 309-litres of boot space, which is slightly bigger than its predecessor, which had a 292-litre boot. However, please note that the all-electric Vauxhall Corsa is smaller, with 267-litres of luggage space due to some of the space taken up with the electric battery.
Vauxhall Corsa Performance and Engine
The Vauxhall Corsa 2023 is a fuel-efficient car, powered by petrol or electric options.
Petrol engines
The petrol options include a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine that’s available with a non-turbocharged 74bhp, or turbocharged 99bhp or 128bhp options.
The 74bph engine with a five-speed manual gearbox goes from 0-62mph in 12.4 seconds, whereas the turbocharged 99bhp engine, equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox, handles 0-62mph in 9.3 seconds. Buyers can also opt for an eight-speed automatic gearbox with the 1.2-litre engine, but the acceleration is a little slower, going from 0-62mph in 10.2 seconds.
The top petrol 128bhp engine version can only be equipped with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and manages 0-62mph in a sprightly 8.2 seconds.
Diesel engines
There used to be a 1.5-litre diesel engine available with 100 bhp and a whopping 250Nm of torque, but Vauxhall has dropped this from the Corsa range.
Electric
It should come as no surprise that the quickest engine is the Corsa Electric, fitted with a powerful 134bhp electric motor that delivers instant torque and thrusts the all-electric Corsa from 0-62mph in a speedy 8.1 seconds.
Vauxhall Corsa MPG and emissions
Petrol engines
The 1.2-litre Corsa 75bhp non-turbo model delivers around 53.3mpg and 118g/km of CO2 emissions. In comparison, the 1.2 100bhp turbo variant provides around 52.3mpg and 117g/km with the six-speed manual gearbox, or approximately 48.7mpg and 121g/km with the eight-speed automatic version.
Opt for the 130bhp 1.2 turbo, which only comes with automatic transmission, and you get around 50.4mpg and 123g/km of CO2 emissions.
What is the range of the Vauxhall Corsa Electric?
There's a 50kWh battery available for the all-electric Corsa Electric, and thanks to some technical updates carried out in Dec 2021, the official range is now 222 miles, which is nearly double the range you get with the Honda e and very similar to the range of the Renault ZOE.
Vauxhall Connect App
One of the key features of the MyVauxhall smartphone app allows drivers to access important information, such as the remaining range and the charging status of the vehicle. Smartphone users can also use the app to select the required charging time and remotely start the air-con so that the car's at a comfortable temperature before drivers begin their journey.
How safe is the Vauxhall Corsa?
The independent safety and crash-test organisation Euro NCAP, which has implemented more rigorous safety tests over the last few years, has given the Vauxhall Corsa 2023 a four-star rating due to the range of safety features that make it a safe car to drive.
The impressive list of standard safety equipment includes features such as a lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, cornering brake control, a driver drowsiness alert system, speed sign recognition, cruise control, a forward collision alert system and a tyre deflation and pressure monitoring system.
The higher-specced GS trim adds rear parking sensors, while the top-end Ultimate trim provides front and rear parking sensors, a panoramic rear-view camera and adaptive cruise control.
